When the cold temperatures start to wind down, soon enough you will feel the warm spring air hopping right into your backyards.

This would mean it’s time to prepare for spring cleaning. You may want to clean and get your house organized to make it sparkling clean during the very first week of springtime. So, take a peek at these tips on how to prepare for spring cleaning.

Make an Appointment with Yourself

Most of us know how busy our spring schedules can get, with unexpected events, preparing for vacation, and more. So it’s time to get your house cleaned. You may have done this many times in the past, and you know how long it can take, which makes you feel like sparing yourself the trouble of spending all of your time on spring cleaning. You also know the approximate time of year when it will actually be warm enough to get things done, so go through your schedule to find chunks of time, that are in at least two hour increments.

Get Your List Ready

You need to make a list of everything that you want to be sure to get done this spring. While there are many tasks that you know by heart because you do them every year, there may be a few that you don’t always do, and this is why you need to make a list. Add every single task that you can think of to your list, but make sure that the things specific to this year get done. Also, don’t just think of your spring cleaning tasks when you’re in front of the list, but keep the list in mind to add tasks later that you think of to do.

Get in the mood

To make your spring-cleaning endeavors become effective or at least a bit fun, you need to mentally prepare yourself. Focus on how wonderful it will feel to transition the winter woes into spring with a fresh, clean, welcoming home and set a date that you can keep to tackle your cleaning. Mark it on your calendar and make sure to stick on that date.

Purchase necessary supplies

Before you set a date for your spring cleaning, get ready with the items you will need, such as fresh rubber gloves, plenty of cleaners, trash bags, and other supplies that are needed. It would be best if you also stocked lightbulbs, drain clog remover, door hinge grease, and other small to handle any pop up tasks that require fixing along the way.

Declutter

On the days that you’re working on general spring cleaning tasks for your home, make this springtime a step toward decluttering. Take out all of the recyclable materials, put away all the things you don’t need anymore, get rid of old food from the fridge, and so on – this is one of the simplest ways to get your home ready for spring.

Save vacuuming and mopping for last

Look for the areas that are hard-to-reach and start dusting. Don’t forget to also clean the ceiling fans, the top of your refrigerator, the top of your TV stand, light fixtures, and whatever places you don’t usually clean on your average house cleaning day. After all these tasks are complete, it’s time to vacuum the areas on the floor that may have caught all of that dust.

Clean out underneath the furniture and appliances

After the high dusting and vacuuming around your house, start cleaning out underneath your furniture and appliances. Remember to clean underneath and around the wirings of every appliance, where dust and grime can have an impact on your appliance’s efficiency.

Wipe down your walls

When the winter chill winds down, you may see your walls full of more accumulated grime and dust than you think they would, especially since they are vertical surfaces. As long as the paint can handle a washing, use a sponge to do the dirtiest work and dry your walls with a soft, clean cloth. If you aren’t sure whether the paint can withstand the cleaning, spot test it somewhere out of sight.

With the arrival of the spring season, it is a great time to create a fresh, clean feeling in your home. Follow these tips on how to prepare for spring cleaning, and in no time your home or apartment will be sparkling clean and you will be able to fully enjoy the beautiful spring weather knowing all of your tasks have already been completed at home.
